• Step 1- Do not do anything to the culture for 1-2 days to allow them to adjust to the temperature in their new environment
• Step 2- Open the package & wash the agar jelly off the plant as thoroughly as possible. We strongly recommend using running water. A small paint brush can be gently used to assist with the cleaning process. This is one of the most important steps of the process.
• Step 3- Plant your cultures in the medium of your choice. We recommend a chunky blend of coco husk & perlite. We utilize acclimation plugs although there are many great mediums available.
• Step 4- Place them into a clear sealed package (container or plastic bag). Within 24-hours your container will have water droplets forming, which will confirm the container is at 100% humidity.
• Step 5-Place under a grow lights for between 8 & 14 hours a day
• Step 6- Leave plants covered for the first 7 days.  The following 7 to 10 days slowly expose plants to ambient air. Each day exposing the plants to slightly more air until fully acclimated. 

Our acclimation kits will contain all of the tools necessary for success. Just add water & grow lights to the simple acclimation process to produce healthy acclimated plants!

How to Care for Alocasia Variegated Yucatan Princess Aurea

Caring for your Alocasia Variegated Yucatan Princess Aurea is easy if you follow a few simple guidelines. These tips will help your plant thrive:

• Light: Place your plant in bright, indirect light for at least 6 hours a day. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the delicate variegated leaves.

• Temperature: This tropical plant loves warmth. Keep it in a room that stays between 65–85°F. Make sure to avoid cold drafts or air conditioning vents.

• Humidity: High humidity is key to keeping this plant happy. Mist the leaves regularly or use a humidifier to increase moisture in the air. Grouping it with other plants can also help maintain a humid environment.

• Watering: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Keep the soil slightly damp but never soggy. Use a pot with drainage holes to prevent water from sitting at the bottom.

• Soil: Use a well-draining, nutrient-rich soil mix. A combination of coco husk, perlite, and organic matter works well to keep the roots healthy and happy. We have both in our inventory!

• Fertilizer: Feed your plant once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) with Orange Lake Nursery Fertilizer. This will give your Alocasia the nutrients it needs to grow strong and maintain its vibrant variegation.
