This pack will come with 5 Philodendron Mamei sold as tissue culture in agar gel. These cultures are ready to be deflasked & acclimated in their new jungle.

Step aside for the stunning Philodendron Mamei! The Mamei will showcase silvery variegated hues throughout the heart shaped leaves. Discovered and native to Ecuador, the Philodendron Mamei is often referred to by the nickname “Silver Cloud”. Featuring this plant will make any jungle stand out among the crowd! Unlike the other tree-loving Philodendron, the Mamei prefers to crawl across the ground in its natural habitat instead of climbing. Make sure to have plenty of future planter space for the vine to mature. A single grown Mamei leaf can reach a width of over a foot in length.

Learning the proper steps to deflask & acclimate tissue culture can be a nerve wracking process. We like to keep this process as simple as possible & have provided a step-by step video guide. Below is a brief description on the acclimation process. Our Tissue Culture Acclimation Kit will come with everything you need to start growing successful tissue culture (You will need to provide your own grow lights & water!) We are here to help guide you through the process & are always happy to talk plants!

Step 1- Do not do anything to the culture for 1-2 days to allow them to adjust to their new temperatures

Step 2- Open the package & wash out the jelly as thoroughly as possible. A small paint brush can be gently used to assist with the cleaning process

Step 3- Soak them in a rooting hormone if available. This step is not necessary for success

Step 4- Plant your cultures in the medium of your choice. We recommend a chunky blend of coco husk & perlite (available for purchase in our Add On collection)

Step 5- Place them into a closed package (container or plastic bag) while allowing light to pass through. Place under a grow light

Step 6- Leave plants covered for the first 7 days.  The following 7 to 10 days slowly expose plants to ambient air. Each day exposing the plants to slightly more air until fully acclimated.

It is up to the customer to be able to provide proper acclimation to the plantlets.  We are happy to help answer any questions you may have in regards to the process of acclimating plants. Orange Lake Nursery will not be held liable for plantlets that do not survive acclimation. If you have any concerns  with the condition the plantlets arrived in, you must reach out the same day of delivery with photos of their condition.
