Alocasia Chantrieri

The Alocasia Chantrieri, often called the African Mask Plant or Metallic Alocasia, is a striking species prized for its dark, velvety leaves and silvery-green veins that shimmer under the light. The foliage has a rich, almost metallic sheen—deep emerald with subtle bronze tones on the undersides—that makes it look more like living art than a houseplant. With its dramatic form and bold contrast, it’s a favorite among collectors and statement-plant enthusiasts alike.

Care Guide

• Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid direct sun, which can burn the foliage.
  
• Water: Keep soil consistently moist but never soggy. Allow the top 1–2 inches to dry before watering again.
  
• Humidity: Prefers high humidity (60%+). Mist regularly or place near a humidifier for optimal growth.
  
• Temperature: Thrives in warm environments between 65–85°F. Keep away from drafts or cold air.
  
• Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining mix with perlite and orchid bark.
  
• Fertilizer: Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted balanced fertilizer.
