Drosera Aliciae

The Drosera Aliciae, commonly known as a sundew, is a fascinating carnivorous plant prized for its sparkling, dew-covered leaves and natural insect-catching abilities. Its rosette of spoon-shaped leaves is covered in tiny, glistening tentacles that produce a sticky substance used to trap small insects. When sunlight hits the plant, these droplets shimmer like morning dew, giving the Drosera Aliciae its signature look.

Native to South Africa, this compact carnivorous plant is both beautiful and functional, making it a unique addition to any plant collection. The Drosera Aliciae slowly curls its leaves around captured prey, helping the plant absorb nutrients that it would normally receive from nutrient-poor soils in the wild. Its small size makes it perfect for terrariums, windowsills, or dedicated carnivorous plant displays.

Plant Care Tips:

• Light: Bright light to full sun is best. Strong light helps the plant produce the sticky “dew” on its leaves.
  
• Water: Keep soil consistently moist using distilled, rain, or reverse osmosis water. Avoid tap water due to mineral content.
  
• Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity but can adapt to normal indoor humidity if kept properly watered.
  
• Soil: Use a carnivorous plant mix such as sphagnum moss or peat with perlite. Do not use standard potting soil.
  
• Feeding: The plant will naturally catch small insects on its own, but occasional feeding of tiny insects can support growth.
